So have you seen photos of cracked strut towers on 1st Gen Tacomas or 3rd Gen 4Runners?
I didn’t want to be that guy, so I made some stuff to reinforce the strut towers: limit strap tabs that clear 2.5” coilovers ( – important! – repeated topping out definitely stresses the tower around the strut mount holes; and you know you’re eventually going to 2.5″, be honest) and 3/16″ thick upper mount reinforcement plates ( – for when you bottom out that same $$$ coilover because your bump stops and compressed length weren’t on the same page.)
When used in combination, these should eliminate strut tower cracking altogether.
(I’m not guaranteeing that you cannot break your truck, but I’ll be impressed if you do.)
As with my other stuff, this stuff is WIY (Weld-It-Yourself) but self-aligning and easy to install.
